Asy plateau is located at a height
from 2200 to 2800 above sea level. It originates in the Turgen gorge and ends in the valley of the Bartogay reservoir. Since ancient times it has been known as a summer pasture and as a place

from Europe and Central Asia to China and India.
In the western part of the plateau, at an altitude of 2750 m, the Asy-Turgen observatory is located - the highest located observatory on the territory of the former USSR.

The lake is located at an altitude of 1760 above sea level. In 1963, a devastating mudflow passed through the gorge, which destroyed the lake and the entire infrastructure around. The Bear Waterfall is located in the Turgen Gorge, 70 km from the city of Almaty, on the territory of the national natural park Ile-Alatau. Turgen Gorge has 7 waterfalls, the most popular among tourists is the Bear waterfall. Walking time to get there is about half an hour.
